Facebook is its original social network for posts and messages, Instagram is for sharing photos and videos, and WhatsApp is a messaging app. Meta also makes Quest virtual reality headsets and Ray-Ban smart glasses with AI built in. It is based in Menlo Park, United States.

Meta was founded on February 4, 2004. Mark Zuckerberg still runs it as chairman and CEO, holding 61.2% of the voting power though only 13.68% of the shares. As of June 2026 Meta had 75,472 employees, after 2025 revenue of $201 billion. Meta is a top-tier H-1B sponsor.1
