Dennis T. Flynn and Charles B. Ames founded the company in 1906 in Tulsa, as Oklahoma Natural Gas Company. It took the name Oneok in 1980, and spun off its natural gas distribution business into One Gas in 2013. In 2023, it acquired Magellan Midstream Partners for $18.8 billion. It is a public company, trading on the NYSE under the ticker OKE. In 2025, it had 6,326 employees and revenue of $33.6 billion. That matters: the Magellan deal added pipeline capacity, helping push ONEOK's revenue to $33.6 billion in 2025.
