Johann Heinrich Schröder became a partner in the London firm J.F. Schröder & Co in 1804; his brother had founded it in 1800. Schroders trades on the London Stock Exchange, but the Schroder family still holds about 44% of shares. By 2025, it had over 6,000 employees across 38 locations, £3.25 billion in revenue and £823.7 billion in assets under management. In February 2026, US firm Nuveen agreed to buy Schroders - a deal that would end its run as an independent company.
