Sears Holdings Corporation was an American holding company based in Hoffman Estates, United States. It was the parent company of the chain stores Kmart and Sears.
Sears Holdings was formed on March 24, 2005, when Kmart acquired Sears. The company employed 85,000 people as of 2019. It filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on October 15, 2018, and emerged from bankruptcy on October 29, 2022. In 2019, Eddie Lampert's ESL Investments bought its assets and formed a new company called Transformco. That means neither Kmart nor Sears is run by Sears Holdings anymore.
