SiFive designs computer chip technology based on the RISC-V design, but it does not manufacture chips itself. Its Core IP product families, called Essential, Intelligence, Performance, and Automotive, are licensed to other companies that build chips. It also sells development boards, such as the HiFive Premier P550, which let engineers test its chip designs. SiFive is based in Santa Clara, California.
SiFive was started in September 2015 by researchers from UC Berkeley. It is a private company, though it has raised money from venture capital and other investors. As of 2023, it had about 500 employees. In April 2026 it raised $400 million in a Series G round, valuing the company at $3.65 billion.
