Wayve builds embodied AI technology for self-driving cars. Its system, the Wayve AI Driver, learns to drive from camera data alone, without needing HD maps. The software is mapless and vehicle-agnostic, and it can support all levels of driving automation.

Two University of Cambridge machine learning researchers started Wayve on August 21, 2017, in Cambridge, England. It's a privately held company that has raised more than $3.7 billion in total funding, including a $1.5 billion Series D round in February 2026, and is valued at $8.6 billion. Wayve employs approximately 1,000 people, with offices in the UK, US, Canada, Germany, Japan, and Israel. That funding and reach put it among the larger bets in self-driving AI.
