Manitowoc is an American manufacturer of cranes. It makes lattice-boom crawler cranes, tower cranes, mobile telescopic cranes and boom trucks, sold under brands including Grove, Manitowoc, Potain and National Crane. It also sells parts, manuals, training, financing, lift planning tools and fleet management systems to support the cranes it sells. The company previously made commercial refrigeration and marine equipment as well.
Manitowoc was founded in 1902 by Charles West and Elias Gunnell in Manitowoc, Wisconsin, and is now headquartered in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. It employed about 5,000 workers as of 2018, a long-established industrial employer with more than a century of history in heavy equipment.1
